Nigeria is seizing back one of Africa's richest oil blocs and will prosecute petroleum giants Shell and Eni in a $1.2 billion corruption scandal that has drawn investigators from the United States, Italy, France, Switzerland and Holland, according to a Nigerian Federal High Court document.

Haiti's president-elect Jovenel Moise questioned by judge

An investigating judge in Haiti has spent four hours questioning the president-elect, Jovenel Moise, about fraud allegations.

 

Mr Moise - who is due to be sworn into office next month - says he went to the court voluntarily without a lawyer.

 

The former banana exporter denies accusations of money laundering and receiving favourable loans before he entered politics.

Two men are being charged with running a 'Hamilton' ticket fraud scheme that stole millions

The SEC on Friday announced that it was charging two New York City men on running an $81 million Ponzi scheme that deceived investors into buying blocks of tickets to high-demand shows including Adele concerts and the smash Broadway hit “Hamilton.”

 

The two men, Joseph Meli and Matthew Harriton, allegedly raised about $81 million from at least 125 investors in 13 states.

German Deutsche Bank closes down NBK accounts over suspected money laundering

German-based lender Deutsche Bank has shut all National Bank of Kenya (NBK) accounts over suspected money laundering activities, Weekend Business has learnt.

 

Sources within the bank said the closure took effect towards the end of last week. The revelations come even before the dust settles after former chief executive officer Munir Ahmed and five other top managers were edged out over corporate governance issues within the lender.

Sweden's former finance minister suspected of corruption in hunting scandal

The last couple of days have revealed corruption at the National Property Board of Sweden and a scandal concerning suspected bribery in the form of hunting trips arranged by the forest industry company Holmen.
